Swim Meet Sign-ups and Withdrawal Policies

Swimmers need to be signed up for EACH swim meet and each Invitational. All home and away meets are included on the same sign-up sheet while Invitationals are listed on a separate sign-up form. The sign-up sheet will be available on the hanging peg board. The sign-up deadline for each meet is generally one week prior to the meet. The exact date will be noted on the sign-up form. Only swimmers who have been signed up for the meet will be entered to swim. If your swimmer needs to withdraw from the meet, please inform the Coaching staff as soon as you know so adjustments can be made.

Failure to attend a meet in which the swimmer has already been entered, missing an event, or leaving the meet early will result in a penalty.

          1.     First offense results in a warning to the swimmer and an email to the parent.

          2.     Second time offenders will be limited to only ONE event at the next meet and

                  no relays.

          3.     Third time offenders will be removed from all remaining meets of the season.

No one likes to have empty lanes at a swim meet, and this could be a lane available for a teammmate that is present to swim.

Swimmers must check-in with their coach before leaving the meet.

Why Should Swimmers Go to Meets?

Swim meets are important for a child’s development both as a swimmer and as a person. Every swimmer performs differently at practice versus at a meet. By participating at meets, both coaches and swimmers will have a better idea of what to focus on in practice. This allows practices to be more productive and rewarding. Participating in meets also lets swimmers learn important life lessons. Swimmers learn about setting goals, challenging themselves, and teamwork. Meets are where hard work and focus in practice pay off and swimmers can showcase what they have learned and how much they have improved.
