The swimmers are grouped based upon ability and age by the Coaching staff. After the initial groupings, parents may submit a request
for a group change in writing to the Head Coach by the end of the 6th week of the season. After this date, groups will be considered
final and parents may not request changes.
Group 1 (5:00 – 5:30pm) Lead Coach: Courtney Miller
Group 1 is for our newest, youngest, and least experienced swimmers. This group will spend the majority of the season working on freestyle and backstroke only. Swimmers will also work on streamlines, dives (jumps), and backstroke starts as the season progresses. The group will move at a slow pace and a high priority will be on having fun. Swimmers must be able to complete 1 lap (25 yards) to be eligible for this group.
Group 2 (4:30 – 5:00pm) Lead Coach: Gabby Bolin
Group 2 is for slightly more experienced or older 8&U’s. This group will spend the first part of the season working on freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers who are physically ready may be taught either breast or fly (at the sole discretion of the Lead Coach). Swimmers will also be taught to do proper starts, and the first steps of training in a group environment. Swimmers are expected to come to practice ready to learn. This group will also begin to focus on the competitive nature of the sport.
Group 3 (4:00 – 4:30pm) Lead Coach: Rachel Svetlik
Group 3 is for the majority of our advanced 8&U swimmers. Swimmers should be very comfortable with freestyle and backstroke, as well as have a basic understanding of fly or breast. Swimmers in this group are expected to be able to handle a larger work load (more endurance), and be able to keep up with a faster learning curve. A large portion of the season will be spent on fly, breast, and racing all four strokes.
Group 4 (4:00 – 4:40pm) Lead Coach: Jason Bowman
Group 4 is for the majority of our 9-12 year old swimmers. Swimmers in this group will range from brand new to 6 or more years of competitive experience. This group will build a solid foundation for all four strokes. A good amount of time will also be spent developing starts, turns, strength, and endurance.
